The Golden Fleece is a family run Inn, with a relaxed and friendly atmosphere. Carol and Paul Bloomfield have been serving up traditional home cooked food for the past 5 years and have built up an excellent local reputation.
Not content to remain successful at this venture they have recently completed converting the building at the rear of the pub, which was originally created over 150 years ago as a shelter for shepherds and their flocks, into a 5 room bed and breakfast from which they can offer a perfect location to escape and explore the West Country. Located near the three counties border, On the road from Cricket St Thomas and on the Route to Forde Abbey
The advantage of staying here is that you are able to enjoy a lovely meal with no concerns as to who is driving and you can either stroll over to your room or down the slope to your pitch on the Campsite
The town of Chard is only 2 miles away. It is claimed to be the birthplace of aviation, as it was here in 1848 that the Victorian aeronautical pioneer John Stringfellow (1799-1883) first demonstrated that engine-powered flight was possible.
